Amazing Grace On A Dark Day

We’ve been asking the wrong question

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from Genesis 3:8-24. Adam and Eve have sinned by eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Now the Lord confronts them. Most of us wonder why God would offer such a severe penalty for what seems to be such a petty crime. But that’s the wrong question. The right question is: why wasn’t the penalty more severe? Even at the very beginning, God responds to sin with amazing grace.

When The Universe Began To Unravel

The Beginning Of All Our Troubles

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from Genesis 3:1-7, the fall of mankind. He reminded us that every sin begins with a question about God, every sin is an act of rebellion, and every sin ends in disgrace. The good news is that God has responded to our rebellion with grace.

True Rest For Tortured Souls

Where is God in my struggle with mental illness?

On Sunday, guest preacher Andy Farmer opened up Psalm 116 to address the topic of mental health. He taught us that mental anguish is a form of suffering we experience. But our struggle does not separate us from God. Our struggle does not define our lives. And our struggle can only be fully remedied by Jesus.

What Does It Mean To Be Human?

We need to recover the glory of humanity.

On Sunday Pastor Dustin preached the creation of Eve from Genesis 2:18-25. He reminded us that the glory of humanity is that we were made in God’s image, male and female, for His glory. We are the same, yet different. The union of a man and a woman in marriage beautifully displays both our sameness and our difference. And marriage points to something beyond marriage, something you don’t need to be married to experience: the love of Jesus for His bride, the church.

What Were We Made For?

We were made for God.

On Sunday Pastor Eric described a world with only one man in it as he preached from Genesis 2:4-17. God made mankind as the crowning jewel of creation. We were made to be kings, to be priests, and to live forever glorifying our maker and ruling over His creation. That’s what it means to be human.

God Takes His Bow

God Finished Something

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from Genesis 2:1-3, the seventh day of creation. After completing all His creative work God rested. Not because He was tired, but because He was done. He rests from His work of creation but not from His work of redemption. We enter that rest now by believing in God’s only begotten Son.

The Creation Of Everything

Everything has its significance in God.

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from Genesis 1:2-31. What do we believe about the genesis of the cosmos? Were the days of creation literal or metaphorical? Is the earth billions or thousands of years old? There’s room in our hearts and on our bookshelves for different answers to these questions. Here’s what we must believe: God created all of it from nothing, He delights in everything, and He invests His very likeness into mankind.

In The Beginning

God Sets the Stage for His Glory

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached the first verse of the first book in the Bible, Genesis 1:1. He reminded us that the most important thing about creation is that it happened. God is the answer to the quest to explain why there is a universe in the first place. That He created is the very foundation of all knowledge. We know something about everything. What do we know? It’s all for His glory.
