Serve Others By Your Choice Of Seat

Sundays mornings are a whirlwind. There are volunteers setting up. Sunday school in the garden. The worship team rehearsing. Guests arriving early. Families racing to get there on time.

It’s mayhem, but we love it. Every Sunday God draws us together.

There is one way that you could help us make Sundays a little less chaotic and more seamless:

Scoot to the center

If there’s a big gap of chairs between you and the other folks in your row, close the gap. This makes it easier for those arriving after you to quickly and easily find a seat. It’s a simple and kind way to serve others.

Thank you for loving one another, even in the small things

HOW TO BE A GRACIOUS PART OF A COMMUNITY EMBROILED IN CONTROVERSY

The topic of sexual identity is a contentious issue. Opinions are strong. Confusion abounds. We need Biblical clarity and Biblical compassion to engage in ways that glorify God and provide a compelling witness to our neighbors.

We want to equip you to do just that.

GUEST SPEAKER: JOSH BLOUNT
THURSDAY APRIL 25, 2019

Have You Memorized The Verse For January?

January’s Verse: John 1:1-5 (ESV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

We’ve challenged you to memorize 12 Bible verses in 2019. If you’ve yet to complete the verse for January, there’s still time.

You’ve Got 9 More Days

Prove you completed the Bible memorization challenge for this month by:

  1. Recording a video and send it to info@sovgraceoc.org. You’re on the honor system, but do your best to keep your eyes on the camera the whole time.
    OR

  2. Head to our Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning and recite it to one of the Connect Team members. After you do, send an email to info@sovgraceoc.org letting us know which Connect Team member you recited it to.

An Ordinary Church

God does extraordinary things in ordinary churches.

In part 3 of our 4-part sermon series on the culture of our church, Pastor Dustin preached from Acts 2:42-47. He reminded us that there is no shame being ordinary Christians in an ordinary church. Our ordinary, day-in, day-out efforts are the very stage on which God does His extraordinary work.

Listen to the sermon.

Woman’s Club Gardens

For the new Christian, come and learn what you believe.

For the veteran Christian, clarify and sharpen your convictions.

Additional Resources

  • Use the web app or mobile app to take yourself through the catechism. There are 52 questions and answers, one for each week of the year. Memorize the question and answer for each week and engage with the material they provide. There is also a devotional to help you meditate and apply what you’re learning.

  • Make time for your family to go through it together and utilize the New City Catechism for kids.

The more we learn about God, the more we love Him.
