Trembling Joy

What does it feel like to fear a God who is for you?

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from Genesis 8:20-9:17. Just like Noah, we are in the center of God’s awesome power yet completely safe. We fear God and we love Him. We tremble before Him and we feel His tender care.

New Women's Study Session Begins Soon

Women Talking Like Women About God

Our Women’s Study is an opportunity to delve deeper into theological topics looking for ways these truths can be applied to the unique roles and callings of women.

This Fall, we learn about developing and growing deep, godly friendships. How do we overcome feelings of isolation and loneliness? How do we fit more relationships into our hectic schedules? How do we embrace the people God has put in our lives?

The book that will guide our discussions is Messy Beautiful Friendships by Christine Hoover.

Women's Study is for all female regular attenders of Sovereign Grace Church age 14 and older.  The next session starts on August 27th. Let us know you’re interested in joining by clicking the link below.

The Bible Says What??

How to understand tough passages in Scripture

An overly aggressive prayer (Psalm 109).
A prophet laying on his side for over a year and cooking his food over dung (Ezekiel 4).
Bears mauling youths who mocked a prophet (2 Kings 2).
Jesus cursing a seemingly innocent fig tree (Matthew 21).

The Bible has some confusing passages in it. Yet we believe every verse helps us understand God’s redemptive plan. Every verse is there to equip us to lead lives that please God.

Become a better Bible interpreter in the month of August

We want to help you learn how to better read and understand your Bible. It’s a skill each of us need to grow in. God’s word is a goldmine. We want to learn how to better mine it for its riches.

Join us at Sunday School for the four Sundays of August as we tackle a few tough passages. The principles we’ll teach you will be useful as you approach any Bible verse.

9:30am on Sundays in the Woman’s Club gardens. Children under age 12 may find the curriculum too challenging.

We Are Looking For More Musicians

Being a musician in our church is a delight. There's nothing more rewarding than leading people in song who love to sing. And Sovereign Grace Church loves to sing.

We make music for the glory of God.
We make musicians who glorify God.

Our aim on the worship team is to make musicians who exhibit "undistracting excellence" as they offer their talents to bring God glory and build His church. Musicians who get maximum joy when they hear God's people sing.

If you have musical talent, we want to hear from you.

If you are a member or a regular attender pursuing membership, fill out the form below and we will be in touch about having you audition for the team. The commitment is for 1 year beginning in September.

*The deadline to sign-up is August 4th, so please fill out the form as soon as you can.

July Bible Memorization Challenge
Scripture Memorization.png

July’s Verse: Proverbs 3:5-8 (ESV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
8 It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.

How are you doing with the verse for this month?

We’re halfway through July. There is still plenty of time to memorize and recite it. Consider this your friendly reminder.

How to Participate

For memorizing, we recommend you read the verse 10 times then recite it 10 times. Do this each day and within a few days it will stick. Learn more about how to memorize Scripture here and here.

Once you have it memorized, recite it for us before the month is over. You have two options:

  1. Record a video and send it to info@sovgraceoc.org. You’re on the honor system. We trust you.
    OR

  2. Head to our Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning and recite it to one of the Connect Team members. After you do, send an email to info@sovgraceoc.org letting us know which Connect Team member you recited it to.
