A Church Plant 7500 Miles Away

Brothers and Sisters Living for Christ Halfway Across the Globe

On Sunday, we prayed for Sovereign Grace Church of Parramatta, a church plant outside of Sydney, Australia. It’s in a strategic, growing, and multi-ethnic area of the city.

The brothers and sisters planting that church are our partners in the gospel. Pastor Eric is coaching their church planter, Riley Spring.

We invite you to join us in praying for this new work. Here are a few things to pray for:

  • Pray for the members of this church to grow in love for one another, using their gifts to build one another up.

  • Pray for the resources they need. The photo above is them touring their new facility, praise God! But more provision is needed.

  • Pray for Riley and his family. Church planting is hard and they will need the Spirit’s presence to sustain and guide them.

  • Pray for their sending church, Sovereign Grace Church of Sydney. That God would give them faith to send out their friends to establish a new church in a new neighborhood. And that God would bring in more new people to their church for them to disciple.

  • Pray for the people of Parramatta, that the gospel will sound forth from this church and that God would save many through their ministry.

Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

How comfortable are you being different?

On Sunday Pastor Dustin continued the story of Noah and the ark preaching from Genesis 7:1-10. Noah believed things nobody believed, so he did things nobody would do. That is true for us as well. Our faith leads us to do things that the world around us views as bizarre. But it’s all worth it in the end.

Listen to the sermon.

Join Us This Sunday For Picnic In The Plaza

A Delicious Sunday to Visit Sovereign Grace

This Sunday is one of our regularly scheduled plaza invasions. If you’re planning to eat lunch then you are invited. Following our worship service, we will head to Plaza Park for lunch.

Plan to either bring your lunch with you to church, purchase take out at any of the restaurants in Old Towne Orange, or take advantage of our world famous Buck-O-Slice Pizza. If you're our guest, pizza is on us.

We'll have blankets to sit on but please feel free to bring a blanket or a folding chair.

Send Us Your Prayer Requests

We want to better serve you

We are a praying church. We pray as individuals. We pray on Sundays. We pray in small groups. We pray before, during, and after meetings.

And now, as you know, we hold a weekly morning prayer meeting. And you’re invited to join us.

We also would like to pray for you. To make it simple, we’ve added a place on our website where you can submit requests. We’ll pray for them on Tuesday mornings.

Submit a prayer request.

9 Days To Complete June Bible Memorization Challenge

June’s Verse: John 3:16-21 (ESV)

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

18 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

19 “And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

How are you doing memorizing June’s Bible verse?

There are 9 days left in June to complete the challenge for this month. Make sure you show us you’ve memorized it by either:

  1. Recording a video and sending it to info@sovgraceoc.org. You’re on the honor system, but make sure to keep your eyes on the camera.
    OR

  2. Heading to our Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning and reciting it to one of the Connect Team members. After you do, send an email to info@sovgraceoc.org letting us know which Connect Team member you recited it to.

Learn more about how to memorize Scripture here and here.

“I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.”

Finishing His Residency

Today, Keith officially graduates from his residency program (he’s already a doctor, but you can learn more about residency here). What’s clear is that Keith has worked hard. He and his family have made many sacrifices to get here.

We thank God for the many different ways He calls His people to serve and bring Him glory. This is Keith’s calling and we’re grateful God has led him to it and sustained him in it.
