June Bible Memory Verse

Your 2019 Challenge

This year we’ve challenged you to memorize 12 Bible Verses Every Californian Needs to Know. Each month we provide a Bible verse and you commit it to memory. For those who complete all 12 months, we will throw a party celebrating the ways God has strengthened you through His word.

How to Participate

For memorizing, we recommend you read the verse 10 times then recite it 10 times. Do this each day and within a few days it will stick. Learn more about how to memorize Scripture here and here.

Once you have it memorized, recite it for us before the month is over. You have two options:

  1. Record a video and send it to info@sovgraceoc.org. You’re on the honor system, but make sure to keep your eyes on the camera the whole time.
    OR

  2. Head to our Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning and recite it to one of the Connect Team members. After you do, send an email to info@sovgraceoc.org letting us know which Connect Team member you recited it to.

June’s Verse: John 3:16-21 (ESV)

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

18 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

19 “And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

Calling All Musicians

We’re building a company of joyful musicians

Whether you're just starting to strum the 4 chords you know on the guitar or you're a classically-trained pianist, come play with the worship team during our once-per-month rehearsal. The entire worship team is there. We learn about worship, we work on our musicianship, and we grow as a team.

You can just observe. You can jump in and play or sing along. Ask for help on your instrument. You are welcome to participate in whatever way would serve you best.

If you've ever wondered about serving on the worship team, this is for you.
If you just want to come and jam, this is for you.

High School Class Of 2019

Manny, Chris, Daniel, Elizabeth, Bennett, and Carson

On Sunday we celebrated and prayed for the young men and woman who are turning the page from high school to the next chapter of their lives. We thank God that He has entrusted them to us for this important season in their lives. We commend them to His care as they move on to this next stage.

Pastor Eric prayed Philippians 1:9-11 for them on Sunday. Would you join us in praying for them as well?

“And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”

Live Free

For Freedom Christ Has Set Us Free

On Sunday church member Jason Roenicke preached his first sermon at Sovereign Grace Church. He shared a message from Galatians 5:1-6 reminding us that we don’t obey God to earn His favor; we obey Him because we already have it. The gospel of justification by faith alone means that the verdict is already in, we are fully pardoned and fully accepted by God. We are free to live and serve God knowing that He is for us.

Listen to the sermon.

The Intro Course Has Moved
