First Friday Fast - December

Join us in fasting on the first Friday of every month in 2018. Church members who participate will be invited to a year-end party to celebrate the answers to our prayers.

If fasting is new to you, here are some instructions.

YOURSELF

Our prayer focus for December is you. Our lives should be the place we are most desperate for God to be at work.

  • Pray that the good news of forgiveness and freedom through Jesus Christ would be even more precious to you.

  • Pray for God to lead you to new ways of serving your family, your church, and your neighbors.

  • Pray for God to deliver you from temptation.

  • Cast on the Lord those specific burdens which currently trouble your heart.

  • Pray that God would keep you from growing weary in doing good.

  • Pray for God to grow you in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

  • Pray for the Spirit to manifest power, love, and self-control in your life.

  • Pray that you would be the aroma of Christ to those you encounter.

  • Pray for God to infuse hope and peace in your heart.

  • Pray that God would keep your gaze fixed on the wonderful future He has in store for those who love Him.

When God Answers You

He Is The Answer

On Sunday Pastor Mike preached the first of God’s responses to Job from Job 38:1-40:5. God dignifies us by responding to our many questions, confusions, and groanings. But He responds in a way we never expected. He doesn’t answer our questions. Instead, He offers a panoramic view of Himself. And that is precisely what we need.

The Sovereign Of All Looked Helpless And Small

We have the benefit of being connected to a denomination that produces beautiful, Christ-exalting songs for local churches. This Sunday we learn a new one from their Christmas album. Come ready to sing it this week.

Job's Mysterious Fourth Friend

Angry Elihu

“Then Elihu…burned with anger. He burned with anger at Job because he justified himself rather than God. He burned with anger also at Job's three friends because they had found no answer, although they had declared Job to be in the wrong.”

We’re Skipping Him

Those of you Bible students paying close attention will notice this Sunday that we are skipping Elihu’s speeches and going straight to God’s response. Why, you ask?

He makes the same conclusion as Job’s other friends. He beats the same drum: Job has sinned and needs to repent.
