Church Budget

We publish updates on our financial status throughout the year. A final annual report is published every Fall.

These figures represent the grace of God at work in the members and friends of our local church. It's unmistakable. God is being kind towards us and we want to thank Him and you.

Thank you.

Of course, numbers are only a small fraction of all the way our church is contributing to the ministry of our church. Wouldn't it be great if we could publish a monthly report on your generous affections for one another? Or all the hours you spend together? Thank you for living no longer for yourselves but for God and your neighbor!

May the accounting of His provisions encourage your faith. Please continue to pray that we would steward it all for the advance of His gospel and the good of His church.

When Suffering Is Necessary

The Most Counterintuitive Truth in the World:
We Need to Suffer

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached 1 Peter 1:6-9. We assume that the world would be better without suffering. But Peter inserts a word we wouldn’t expect when thinking about suffering: necessary. Sometimes it’s necessary for us to suffer. Why? So that our faith can be tested. Why does our faith need to be tested? So that we can celebrate the enduring faith God has given us.

Listen to the sermon.

New Song: He Is Our God

We worship God for His attributes and His actions. He is the holy God who has worked in human history to save us and bring us into His eternal kingdom through the death of His Son. All that He is and all that He does makes Him worthy of all our praise. It’s why we sing new songs (Psalm 96).

Listen to the new song above and come ready to sing it with us on Sunday.

HE IS OUR GOD

VERSE 1
Who can light the fires
Of a thousand burning suns
Blazing in the heavens?
There is only One
He is our God

VERSE 2
Who commands the nations
Building up and tearing down
Silencing His rivals?
There is only One
He is our God, He is our God

CHORUS 1
Holy, You alone are holy
Matchless in Your glory, holy God

VERSE 3
Who would come to save us
When we turned away His love
Conquer us with kindness?
There is only One
He is our God, He is our God

CHORUS 2
Holy, You alone are holy
Matchless in Your glory, no one is like You
Worthy, You alone are worthy
We adore You only, holy God

BRIDGE
Now to the King on the throne
Who was and is to come
And to the Lamb Who was slain be glory

The Worship Team's Annual Bandcamp

Every year our worship team devotes a whole Saturday to sing, pray, study, and improve their musical skills. We’re so grateful for this group of musicians who serve us week in and week out. Singing is not just their ministry. It’s ours too:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
Colossians 3:16

We’re grateful God uses the worship team to so skillfully lead us to do just that every Sunday.

Take a moment and pray that God will use their time tomorrow to strengthen their friendships, refresh their hearts, and better equip them to serve on Sundays.

3 Days To Complete September Challenge
Scripture Memorization.png

September’s Verse: Isaiah 40:28-31 (ESV)

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

3 Days Left!

September is almost over. There’s still enough time to complete the challenge for this month. Act now, don’t delay.

How to Participate

For memorizing, we recommend you read the verse 10 times then recite it 10 times. Do this each day and within a few days it will stick. Learn more about how to memorize Scripture here and here.

Once you have it memorized, recite it for us before the month is over. You have two options:

  1. Record a video and send it to info@sovgraceoc.org. You’re on the honor system. We trust you.
    OR

  2. Head to our Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning and recite it to one of the Connect Team members. After you do, send an email to info@sovgraceoc.org letting us know which Connect Team member you recited it to.

Living Well Annual Banquet

For years, our church has been involved with Living Well, an organization supporting women and men faced with an unplanned pregnancy. They are serving people in crisis right in our neighboorhood.

Each year we have an opportunity to support the work they do. Angie Cunningham, a member of Sovereign Grace Church of Santa Ana, organizes a group and hosts a table at their annual banquet. We encourage you to consider attending and supporting this great organization.

Our Annual Reformation Celebration

Reformapalooza
Sunday, October 27th

Immediately following our Sunday service on 10/27/2019, it’s our annual celebration of the Protestant Reformation. Food for the adults. Fun for the kids. This is a blast every year.

All guests are welcome. All church members bring a salad or contact the church office for other things you can bring.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Picnic In The Plaza
IMG-1932.jpg

A Delicious Sunday at Sovereign Grace

One of our regularly scheduled Plaza invasions is happening this Sunday. This year we’re doing them on months with a 5th Sunday, which means they’ll be less frequent.

It’s a big picnic with friends in our historic downtown — the perfect opportunity to show our neighbors how much we love one another.

Bring a chair or a blanket. Bring lunch, grab food from a fabulous Old Towne Orange eatery, or take advantage of our Buck-O-Slice pizza. We’ll see you Sunday.
