The Better Sufferer

What is the worst thing that could happen to you?

On Sunday Pastor Eric asked us to ponder that question as he preached from Job 1:6-2:10. We should not attempt to compare our suffering to Job. It’s likely that his suffering is worse. But Job serves as a model of how to suffer well. We need to learn from him, not compare ourselves to him.

Food And Fun At Reformapalooza

Reformapalooza is coming 1 week from this Sunday on 10/28/2018. And no Reformation party can be a Reformation party without plenty of food and plenty of fun.

We want your kids to love the Reformation as much as we do.

We’ve got our best minds working on a play area for the little ones. Reformer bean bag toss, pin the 95 theses on the door, and other awesome Reformation-themed games are in the works. We plan to keep your kids entertained long enough so you can enjoy your fill of bratwurst.

Members, we need you to bring stuff.

We’ll be in the church office parking lot right across the street from the Woman’s Club so bring your lawn chairs. We also need you to bring a salad. If you’d like to bring some other kind of food item, let Anne know ASAP.

This is going to be so much fun.

Joining The Conversations In Old Towne Orange

Old Towne Orange Pastors

There are many discussions and issues that the people of Old Towne Orange care deeply about. We care about them too.

This week Pastor Eric and Pastor Dustin kicked off a Facebook Live broadcast aimed at engaging in these discussions with our neighbors. The first topic: local politics.

Check out the first broadcast.

Stay tuned for more and make sure to send in questions you’d like the pastors to tackle.

Why Small Groups?

This Is Your Ministry

Small Groups are not one ministry in the life of our church, they are the ministry. Like breathing, these groups provide oxygen to our relationships with one another. They facilitate discipleship. They provide a context for us to help one another become more like Jesus.

We’ve begun a short series on the question, “Why small groups?” This is the next installment.

Reason 2: Focus Your Attention

How many good friends can any one person have? Two? Ten? Twenty?

The reality, even in a small church, is that we can’t know everyone on a deep and meaningful level. We have to pick and choose who to engage with.

How should we make that decision? Who should we open up to? Who should we encourage and influence?

Our simple answer is: the people in your small group. You can’t disciple and be discipled by everyone in the church. But 10-12 people who you meet with regularly? That’s the perfect place to start.

Ok, I’m ready to join a small group.
