Pray With Our Denomination

The executive director of our denomination, Sovereign Grace Churches, has just sent out prayer requests for the 4th quarter of 2020. Join with brothers and sisters from around the globe in praying for God to advance the gospel through our churches.

The prayer requests are below. You can read the post here.

Thanks for praying with us!

Sovereign Grace Churches Fourth Quarter 2020 Prayer Requests

  • Pray that God would draw unbelievers to Sovereign Grace churches as we hold our Christmas related events and services in December.

  • Pray that God would give the members of Sovereign Grace churches opportunities to share the gospel with unbelieving family members, friends, neighbors, and coworkers over the holiday season.

  • Pray that God would protect and strengthen our unity in every Sovereign Grace church in a way that display’s the power of the gospel to our broken and divided communities.

  • Pray for Michael Granger and Trinity Fellowship in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia asking God to bless their public services that they started a few weeks ago, and that God would draw unbelievers to this church plant to hear the gospel.

  • Pray for Joselo Mercado as he travels to Costa Rica December 1-3 where he will be meeting with about 25 pastors in that nation to equip and care for them.

  • Pray for Jeffery Jo in Manila, Philippines; Cornelio Nebo in Cebu City, Philippines; and Dyonah Thomas in Liberia asking God to give them grace as they work through the Sovereign Grace Churches ordination process.

  • Pray that God would use the new Sovereign Grace Music Christmas album, “Heaven Has Come” to declare the good news that Jesus has come to save sinners to those who don’t know Him as Lord and Savior.

  • Pray that God would continue to provide financially for Sovereign Grace Churches so that we can fund the gospel opportunities He is giving us throughout the world.

The Most Important Things Remain

On this election day, we continue to pray that God’s kingdom come and his will be done. He rules over all. He appoints and removes kings and all in high places.

We hope that the outcomes of this election will promote righteousness, justice, and peace in our country. But we’re still longing for a better country (Heb. 11:16).

Kevin DeYoung has written a brief and biblically-saturated meditation on what remains true no matter what happens in Washington D.C. Take a moment to read it and renew your trust in our sovereign God.

Noble Work

The Work of Pastors

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 3:1-7. God shepherds us through men he has called and qualified to do the work of pastors. It’s a sign of God’s grace that Sovereign Grace Church values pastoral ministry. But we must ensure we never assume it. May God give us a greater appreciation for the work of pastors among us. May he raise up more men to do it.

New Song This Sunday

The Greatest Gift Heaven Gave

On Sunday, we’re singing a new song together: Yet Not I, But Through Christ in Me by City Alight. Take time to listen and get familiar with this wonderful song so that you’re ready to sing it with us.

Listen to the song.

YET NOT I BUT THROUGH CHRIST IN ME

Verse 1
What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace

Chorus 1
To this I hold my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to his
Oh, how strange and divine, I can sing: All is mine!
Yet not I but through Christ in me

Verse 2
The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side the Savior He will stay
I labor on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need his power is displayed

Chorus 2
To this I hold my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley he will lead
Oh, the night has been won, and I shall overcome
Yet not I but through Christ in me

Verse 3
No fate I dread I know I am forgiven
The future sure the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And he was raised to overthrow the grave!

Chorus 3
To this I hold, my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released I can sing: I am free!
Yet not I but through Christ in me

Verse 4
With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For he has said that he will bring me home
And day by day I know he will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne

Chorus 4
To this I hold my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to him
When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I but through Christ in me

Outro
To this I hold my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to him
When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I but through Christ in me

When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat:
Yet not I but through Christ in me
Yet not I but through Christ in me
Yet not I but through Christ in me

Why Celebrate Reformation Day?

The history of the Protestant Reformation is our family history. This historical recovery of the gospel changed the Western world and our lives as believers.

Tomorrow is Reformation Day - a day set aside every year to remember the men and women the Lord used to recover, proclaim, and defend the truth of salvation by grace through faith in Christ.

Below are a couple resources to help you celebrate this Reformation Day:

Christmas Is Always Worth Celebrating

Even in a year like 2020, we have a Savior who came to rescue us from sin and death. We always have great reason to rejoice.

Today, our friends at Sovereign Grace Music have released an album of original Christmas songs to help us celebrate Christ’s first coming and prepare for his second coming. Get familiar with these, we’ll likely be singing some of them on Sundays.
