Read the article Pastor Eric reference on Sunday during his sermon from Mark 14:53-72.
This Sunday after church.
Join us as we break in our new projection screen with a crowd favorite. Bring your lunch or we'll have Buck-A-Slice pizza available. Kids will receive a free lightsaber. Adults will receive welts from being hit by the lightsabers.
Isn't it great to be part of a family?
Thanks Audio Team.
Did you notice the big improvement in sound quality a few Sundays ago? Those were our new-to-us PA speakers.
For years we used borrowed speakers (thanks Chris B.). Then we "borrowed" the monitors from the worship team and used them for as our main speakers (thanks Worship Team). And now we have purchased proper speakers. They sound fabulous!
Big props to all who serve on the audio team each and every Sunday. Thanks to Daniel for go above and beyond to ensure we steward our resources wisely (consider joining his team). Thanks church for giving above and beyond...we used some extra funds from the Video Campaign to purchase them.
Thank you God.
The Gospel-Affected Soul
Dave Taylor from our sister church in Sydney, Australia preached from Philippians 4:4-7 this past Sunday. It was celebration of the power of God at work in the souls of men and women who believe that Christ is everything.
The church is a gathering of servants.
Could you imagine a family where some of the members are never invited to make a contribution? A few lead, some follow, and others are just there. Enjoying but never contributing.
Sure you can. It's called a family with infants.
The church is like a family, full of people at different levels of maturity. And there are guests. Not everyone is called to serve all of the time. Yet the one who can must orient himself outward. It's their privilege and an act of obedience. We follow our master, who lived as a servant for us.
We follow the Greatest Servant.
Go here to learn more about how you could serve on a ministry team. There's no pressure. We're not in the business of filling positions and keeping you busy. We want to equip you to fulfill your calling as a disciple.
The perks of life in Old Towne.
There are just some things that money can't buy. Like free popsicles after church. Run, don't walk this Sunday over to Front Porch Pops. They are moving out because Watson's has been sold.
You've been born into a life that is a celebration of another.
Paul Tripp
Each Sunday we gather to find refreshment by fixing our gaze on God. Music plays a critical role.
We sing because God wants us to.
We sing because it gives our hearts a voice.
We sing because others need to hear of His excellencies.
This Sunday we will add a new (yet very old) hymn into our repertoire: Praise to the Lord, the Almighty. Written in the 1600s by Joachim Neander, a German pastor & hymnodist, this song is a wonderful ascription of praise.
Listen below and come ready to add your voice to the many Christians who have sung this hymn over the years!
(The song can be purchased on Bandcamp by clicking here)
VERSE 1
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near
Praise Him in glad adoration
VERSE 2
Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
VERSE 3
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do
If with His love He befriend thee
VERSE 4
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath come now with praises before Him
Let the Amen sound from His people again
Gladly forever adore Him
