On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 3:14-16. Here we get a clear statement of who we are: the church of the living God. We are his people, purchased by his Son, assembled together in one body. This is salvation. This is a wonderful privilege. This is an unshakable identity.

These men preserve pastoral ministry by allowing the pastors to focus on the work of shepherding. They aren’t stewards of the status quo, but rather move the mission of the church forward. They are dedicated to those who are in distress, ensuring that no needs go unmet in the church. We’re grateful to God for our deacons and are praying he raises up more.
On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 3:1-7. God shepherds us through men he has called and qualified to do the work of pastors. It’s a sign of God’s grace that Sovereign Grace Church values pastoral ministry. But we must ensure we never assume it. May God give us a greater appreciation for the work of pastors among us. May he raise up more men to do it.
On Sunday Pastor Dustin Preached from 1 Timothy 2:8-15. God has created women to display the beauty of the gospel in a unique way. As they give themselves to good works, trusting and following their pastors and husbands, the Lord blesses and builds his church. As women experience the various pains of life under the curse, God promises to deliver them through them all.
On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 2:1-7. We take a turn in the letter as the Apostle Paul begins to lay out practical instructions for church life. The first one: pray for all different kinds of people. Expect them in your church and in your neighborhood. Pray for your governors and leaders. Why? Because Christ Jesus is the one mediator between God and man, and he has come to save all kinds of people. Praying for them empowers us to lead peaceful and quiet lives, godly and dignified in every way.
On Sunday guest preacher Ron Boomsma from our sister church in Pasadena preached from Jeremiah 9:23-24. He reminded us that knowing the Lord is the best. We glory in the reality that God has made himself known to us. As we delight ourselves in knowing God we find energy to pursue him, boldness to serve him, and contentment as we trust him.
On Sunday Pastor Dustin preached from 1 Timothy 1:18-20. Here the Apostle Paul calls us to fight the good fight of faith. We fight courageously. We hold fast to the gospel. We pursue righteousness. We do all of it knowing that our Savior is supporting and defending us.

It enables us to face who we truly are as sinners before a holy God. It gives us gracious hearts for fellow sinners. The gospel is relevant to everyday life. May we daily treasure it in our hearts and apply it to our lives.
