Get Excited For This Sunday

Every Sunday is Easter

The resurrection isn't just for Easter Sundays. We sing resurrection songs and preach resurrection sermons all year round.

What makes Easter Sunday at Sovereign Grace so special is that we use it to make memories. We setup a photo booth, enjoy food, and invite our families to come hear the story of how God has given us new life.

How Should I Talk About Gender Identity And Sexuality?

Loving Our LGBTQ+ Neighbors

The topic of sexual identity is a contentious issue. Opinions are strong. Confusion abounds. We need Biblical clarity and Biblical compassion to engage in ways that glorify God and provide a compelling witness to our neighbors.

We want to equip you to do just that.

A Crucifixion Narrative

On this Good Friday, we invite you to reflect on the death of God’s beloved Son. A death He didn’t deserve. A death He subjected Himself to willingly to pay the penalty and break the power of sin’s hold over us. He did it to vindicate God’s glory and reveal the lengths to which God would go to display His mercy.

A pastor from one of our sister churches, Rich Gamache, wrote and delivered a poetic re-telling of the events of Good Friday. Read or listen to it using the links below and marvel at the Savior who displayed His matchless love through Calvary’s cross.

“Jesus pushes himself up again and cries, ‘It is finished.’ And it is. Every sin of every child of God has been laid on Jesus and he drank the cup of God’s wrath dry.”

Women's Retreat Messages

Our 2019 Women’s Retreat went off successfully last weekend. To the ladies who attended, we’re grateful we could send you and are very glad to have you back.

For those who couldn’t make it—and for those who went but need a refresher—we have recordings of the three main sessions with a summary and quotes below.

A big thank you to Kirsi Turbedsky for all her work serving the ladies by preparing and teaching at the retreat. May our church be filled with women of faith in Christ, hope in God’s glory, and love for God and their neighbors.

  • We believe God says we are perfect and we believe He provides perfect grace.

  • “The essence of gospel-humility is not thinking more of myself or thinking less of myself, it is thinking of myself less.” -Tim Keller, The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness

  • “Do you realize that it is only in the gospel of Jesus Christ that you get the verdict before the performance?  The verdict is in. And now I perform on the basis of the verdict.” -Tim Keller, The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness

  • If we hope in the glory of God, we will never be disappointed.

  • “Many of us struggle with questions of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and love, not because he has been unfaithful to any promise in any way, but because we simply are not on his agenda page...God is not working to deliver to you your personal definition of happiness.” -Paul Tripp, New Morning Mercies

  • We love because God has loved us freely and His love transforms us.

  • Love is a transformation, not a transaction.

April's Bible Memorization Challenge

If you haven’t started yet, you can start this month and get full credit! Details are here.

April’s Verse: 1 Peter 1:3-7 (ESV)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

How are you doing memorizing April’s Bible verse?

We’re about half-way through the month. Make sure you show us you’ve memorized it by either:

  1. Recording a video and sending it to info@sovgraceoc.org. You’re on the honor system, but make sure to keep your eyes on the camera.
    OR

  2. Heading to our Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning and reciting it to one of the Connect Team members. After you do, send an email to info@sovgraceoc.org letting us know which Connect Team member you recited it to.

Learn more about how to memorize Scripture here and here.

“I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.”
-Psalm 119:16
