Jesus According to the Minor Prophets

Twelve weeks, twelve prophets, and one gospel: all pointing us towards one glorious Savior. Discover Jesus living in the midst of some of the most obscure books of your Bible.

Beginning Sunday, October 19th

Join us in the garden for the start of our new study. Sunday School begins at 10:00am.

Looking for a way to enhance your study through our new series? Swing by the bookstore and pick up a copy of Iain Duguid's little book "Is Jesus in the Old Testament?"

Guest Reception This Sunday

Lunch is on us.

If you are a recent guest, first-time attender, just passing through, or have been around a couple weeks but haven't yet been to a guest luncheon, then please be our guest! Join us this Sunday, 10-12-14, immediately following the service, for a luncheon in the Woman's Club Garden.

We'd love to get to know you better.

The format is "come-and-go as you please" and kids are welcome. More info will be available at the service on Sunday. See you then!

Reformation Celebration All Month Long

Reformation Sunday - October 26th

Every year we set aside the last Sunday of October to thank God for his faithfulness. We call it Reformation Sunday. A day to celebrate the answer to the Apostle Paul's prayer...

"I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you..." (Ephesians 1:16ff ESV)

Inevitably, our reflections always turn towards a period of church history we call The Reformation. We read creeds and remember and reflect on the truths that were guarded and promoted during this time. We acknowledge that we stand on the teachings and work of generations of godly men and woman.

This month we are celebrating all month long. Each Sunday will include an element from the Reformation (ex. creed, confession of faith, etc.). And mark your calendars for the big church picnic at the end.

Reforma-palooza

Sunday, October 26th immediately following the service. Instructions coming soon.

Book Recommendation: The Wonder Working God

The Wonder Working God: Seeing the glory of Jesus in His miracles by Jared C. Wilson

This book would make for a great companion to our sermon series through the Gospel According to Mark. The author lead his readers into a deeper appreciation of the more "spectacular" moments in Christ's earthly ministry.

We are led to see that there's more than meets the eye when it comes to the miraculous events recorded in the Gospels.

"God cannot be boring. If we find him boring, it is we who are the problem, not God."

This Sunday: Jesus Feeds The 5000

This Sunday in Old Towne Orange

Sundays are the best! We have Pastor Mike teaching Sunday School (the topic is Church Discipline), Pastor Eric teaching Starting Point (covering lessons on our doctrine and the work of the Holy Spirit), Roger Servin is leading worship, Pastoral Resident Lucas Enge is delivering our affirmation, Intern David is on the offering, Chris Benner is on bass, Erkelens has the Call to Worship, and the list goes on and on. You get the point.

It's all hands on deck, every week. On purpose.

Pastor Eric will be preaching from The Gospel According To Mark, 6:30-44. The feeding of the 5000 and the "normalization of creation."
