Hold Fast the Center

We must cherish and protect the gospel.

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 6:20-21. As we finished the book of 1 Timothy, he reminded us that the message has been consistent. Churches must be filled with people who love the gospel, proclaim the gospel, and live in light of the gospel. We each have a part to play. We do it all with full dependence upon God.

The Sovereignty of God

On Sunday Pastor Kyle Houlton from our sister church in Santa Ana, preached from Acts 5:17-42. He reminded us that the sovereignty of God is the church’s timeless confidence. Even when our lives appear out of control, God is completely in control. Our trust in God will eventually be vindicated, even if his purposes are unclear now. We set our hopes upon the One who brought the greatest good from the greatest suffering ever endured, Christ on the cross.

A Word to the Rich

Take hold of that which is truly life.

On Sunday Pastor Dustin preached from 1 Timothy 6:17-19. When Paul addresses “the rich of this present age” he is addressing us. God has made us materially wealthy, knowing that those riches bring temptations. We avoid the pitfalls of wealth by setting our hope on God, enjoying God’s gifts, sharing what God has given, and keeping our eyes fixed on the reward awaiting us in heaven.

LIFE IS A WAR

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 6:11-16. Believing in Jesus is a fight. A disciplined struggle for faith. The sooner we start fighting, the tighter our grip will be on the prize. There’s work to be done. God calls us to flee sin and pursue holiness. As those given new hearts by God, we must engage in this battle.

He Will Rise Again

Jesus’ encounter with the death of a friend.

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from John 11:1-44, the account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. In our grief, we must remember that Jesus is never late. He understands and sympathizes with us. He is angry at the havoc sin is wreaking in our lives. He is the One we look to for victory over sin and death.

Contentment in Christ

Our doctrine is grace and our ethics is gratitude.

On Sunday Pastor Mike preached from 1 Timothy 6:3-10. He asked us to consider if we are resting in Christ. We’re regularly tempted to rely on ourselves, but our Savior invites us to find contentment in Him. Peaceful hearts are the gift of those who know Jesus and trust in Him.

Christians At Work

We work for the sake of the gospel.

On Sunday Pastor Dustin preached from 1 Timothy 6:1-2. Whether we are employees, students, homemakers, or retirees, God has work for us to do. He has given us areas of responsibility where we’re called to spend our lives for his glory and the good of our neighbors. How we approach that work is a crucial part of our witness to a needy world.
