On Sunday church member Grant Sigafoos preached from 1 John 2:28-3:10. He reminded us of the peculiar benefits we enjoy as Christians. We stand before God confidently on account of our trust in Christ. As his beloved children, we are assured of God’s love for us. We continue in his purity, taking on the family likeness.
On Sunday Pastor Eric finished our series in 1 Peter by preaching from 1 Peter 5:6-14. This letter has reminded us not to be surprised by suffering. We need to remember that our lives are not out of control, God is guarding us, we are not alone, and this will end well.
On Sunday Pastor Dustin preached from Isaiah 6:1-8. Our greatest need when we gather as a church is to have genuine encounters with God. How do we know when this happens? We walk away amazed, humbled, forgiven, and sent.
On Sunday guest preacher Ben Kreps shared from Psalm 133. Jesus’ saving work unites Christians to one another. Unity in the church is a gift to enjoy, a treasure to protect, and a message to communicate. May we cherish and guard our precious blood-bought unity.
On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Peter 5:1-5. Pastors are one of the means God uses to help us persevere through suffering. The Chief Shepherd gives us undershepherds who know us personally, sacrifice for us, and point us to our living hope.
On Sunday Pastor Dustin preached from 1 Peter 4:12-19. We tend to see Christian suffering as evidence we’re doing something wrong. But Christians should expect to suffer when they’re doing something right. Opposition to Christianity is normal, it’s a God-given test of our faith, it proves God is with us, and it points us to our future salvation.
On Sunday Pastor Dustin preached from 1 Peter 4:7-11. He reminded us that a God-centered life is a church-centered life. God is using our everyday acts of love towards one another to show his glory and preserve the fellowship of his people. We are exiles in the world, but we need not be exiles in the church. In all that we do, may we glorify God by proving to one another that we belong.
On Sunday, guest preacher John Loftness shared a message from Matthew 16:13-20. He reminded us that the church will never cease to exist. We don’t have to worry about whether or not we’ll make it. Jesus brought the church into existence. Jesus will keep it. We must remain faithful to Him.
