Guest preacher Ron Boomsma reminded us from 1 Corinthians 4:1 of how we are to consider our pastors. They are servants of God's church, entrusted with the gospel.
We have no excuse.
Pastor Eric preached from Romans 2:1-11 last Sunday, alerting us to the danger of assuming we are an exception to the rule. Do we live as though God will treat us differently than he treats others? Do we judge yet not expect to be judged ourselves? And if so, why?
God does not simply let go of the boat. He gives it a nudge.
Pastor Eric continues our series through the Book of Romans, preaching from Romans 1:26-32. Sin begins with a lie about God. Our lies about God lead to more lies about God. The very one we lie about is the only one who can save us from our own sin.
Deny God's wrath and you deny God's love.
Pastor Eric preached last Sunday from Romans 1:18-25, perhaps the beginning of the most offensive part of the Book of Romans. The Apostle Paul begins with God's wrath, reminding us of God's opposition against everything that opposes Him. His wrath, Paul will argue, is a critical component of the gospel. You don't have a gospel if there is no wrath.
You can be as near to God as you want.
Guest preacher Ian McConnell encouraged us this past Sunday to pursue communion with God prior to being sent on mission. Jesus Christ has made a way for you and I to enjoy fellowship with God.
Romans 1:16-17
Pastor Eric continued our study through the Book of Romans last Sunday, encouraging us to consider not only how big the gospel is but also how small and personal. Perspective is everything, as we see in the famous photograph Pale Blue Dot. God's plan to redeem and remake everything is happening one soul at a time.
Guest preacher Ron Boomsma opens up Acts 9:1-9 for us. "When you encounter Jesus, everything changes."
Romans 1:8-15
The Romans were christians with a good reputation. The Apostle Paul actually anticipates his visit with them will be mutually encouraging. This is why he wants to preach the gospel to them. Because good christians need the gospel.
