Orange County In The Purple Tier

But We’re Still Meeting

Governor Newsom announced this week that a number of counties, including ours, were moving back to the purple tier in our Blueprint for a Safer Economy. This effects churches who are meeting indoors, but has no effect on our meetings.

We Can Weather the Weather

Thank you for continuing to meet outdoors with us. We chose to meet outdoors for the long-term because it seemed that would be the least disruptive. That has proven true.

We thank God for the garden at the Woman’s Club of Orange! We can’t wait for Sunday.

In case you need a refresher, here are our guidelines for Sunday mornings.

The Household Of God

What A Privilege

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 3:14-16. Here we get a clear statement of who we are: the church of the living God. We are his people, purchased by his Son, assembled together in one body. This is salvation. This is a wonderful privilege. This is an unshakable identity.

I'm Waiting

“Those who trust in [Jesus] while they wait can be sure they are never out of God’s sight, never away from his presence, and never absent from his thoughts.”

Desiring God has recently published an article by our friend and fellow Sovereign Grace pastor, Bob Kauflin. Bob describes the ways God has used Psalm 40 to help him in seasons of waiting.

Our lives are filled with waiting, especially now as we await the end of the pandemic. But God is still working. And we don’t want to miss what He’s doing.

Take a few minutes to read this article and let Bob help you learn how to wait well.

Officially Recognized Servants

Sunday’s sermon on deacons has us all especially grateful for our deacons, Les and Dave. They hold fast to the gospel. They provide wonderful examples of Christian maturity. They serve tirelessly. They ensure that no one in our church is overlooked or uncared for.

Read our document on the office of deacon here.

It outlines our thoughts on the purpose of deacons, their qualifications, and why we only ordain men while still being absolutely committed to equip women for diaconate-type roles.

We also invite you to join us in praying that God will raise up more deacons. There is more ministry to do. Consider if God might be calling you to be a deacon and, if so, contact the pastoral team.

Lead Servants

Deacons

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Timothy 3:8-13. In this passage, the Apostle Paul profiles deacons: officially recognized servants of the church. These men preserve pastoral ministry by allowing the pastors to focus on the work of shepherding. They aren’t stewards of the status quo, but rather move the mission of the church forward. They are dedicated to those who are in distress, ensuring that no needs go unmet in the church. We’re grateful to God for our deacons and are praying he raises up more.

Last Chance

An Opportunity to Be Generous

Deacon Les Card is hosting a food drive for the homeless in our community. You can drop off food items that will go into Thanksgiving Meal Boxes for needy families.

Here’s what we’re asking you to bring.

This Sunday is the last week we’ll be collecting. Look for the box near the entrance to the garden for the next this Sunday. Drop the food items in there and Deacon Les will deliver them.

If you can’t make it this Sunday, contact Deacon Les to coordinate a time to drop off your items.

Thanks for loving your neighbors!
