Class is in session

We’re teaming up with Sovereign Grace Church of Santa Ana for a series of online classes to answer a handful of pressing questions:

When should we engage in civil disobedience?
What does the bible say about racial reconciliation and gender identity?
What should I do when I disagree with other Christians about important political issues?

It’s time for Summer School. Come hear the pastors engage with the bible on these topics.

The topic tonight is “Church and State: Deciding When to Submit or Rebel.” Bring your questions or submit them ahead of time to the church office.

Contact the church office ASAP if you didn’t receive an email invite.

Get To Know Melissa

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed so much in our lives. Even how we get to know new members at Sovereign Grace Church. Normally, you’d hear a testimony in a service. But now we’re moving it online.

We’ve asked our newest members to record a brief video that we can share with you.

Let’s get to know Melissa.

Church membership is a responsibility, a privilege, and a joy. Jesus saves us and makes a part of a local body of believers where we can learn, serve, and grow. Learn more about membership at Sovereign Grace Church.

What About Communion During COVID?

When we take the Lord’s Supper, the church gathers with Christ to remember and rejoice in his sacrifice for our sins. We reflect upon the great price he paid and the great privileges granted to us. As we look around, we marvel at the mercy shown to our brothers and sisters and treasure the truth that we belong among the people of Christ.

Until We’re All Together Again

On Sunday the pastoral team announced that we are not planning to take the Lord’s Supper together for the foreseeable future. In deference to our brothers and sisters who are staying home, we are choosing to wait until we can all be together again. For now, we are fasting rather than feasting.

We do not know how long this will last. It may be awhile. This is difficult and potentially disappointing. We feel it too.

Let’s trust that the Lord will continue to “bless us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” (Eph. 1:3) while we fast. Let’s embrace this as an act of love for our fellow church members who are staying home during the coronavirus.

If you have questions about this decision (or anything else), please don’t hesitate to contact the pastoral team.

Mercy, Wrath, and Total Depravity

An Infamous Passage of Scripture

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from Genesis 19:1-38 about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Here we come face to face with God’s wrath, his righteous reflex to evil. We peer into the dark depths of a humanity corrupted by sin. And yet in the midst of it, we find a merciful God who was willing to send his own Son to absorb his wrath that we might know his mercy.

How To Best Use Our Digital Bulletin

A Sneak Peek of Our Sunday Services

Every Friday afternoon we publish our Sunday service plan and song lyrics on our digital bulletin. Here are three simple tips for using it effectively:

  1. Check it on Friday or Saturday and take the opportunity to pray that God would use each part of our service to bless and build the church. Pray for the pastors who are leading and teaching.

  2. If you’re straining to read the lyrics on your phone, use the printer-friendly PDF version and bring a physical copy to the service with you.

  3. Listen to the songs we’ll be singing beforehand and practice singing them without the lyrics. We’re using familiar songs on Sundays so that you don’t have to stare at your phone or a piece of paper while we sing. Our entire song catalog is available on Spotify.

We look forward to celebrating our great God and Savior with you this Sunday!
