Reformapalooza FAQs

We have your lunch plans this Sunday. Our annual Reformation celebration, Reformapalooza, means fun for the kids and tons of German sausages for the adults.

Below we have answered your most frequently asked questions. However, if we missed something you can always email the church office and we will happily answer.

  1. Where is Reformapalooza being held?
At the same place we hold services every Sunday, the Woman’s Club of Orange. We’ll spill out into the garden right after the service.

  2. What kind of food will be served?
The church is providing German sausages and buns. If you have a restricted diet, we recommend bringing something with you that you know you can eat.

  3. What should I bring?
If you’re a guest, just yourself! All church members please bring a salad. If you have another food item you would like to bring, please let us know.

  4. If I bring food, where should I put it during the service?
Bring it to the kitchen in the Woman’s Club before the service. Crockpots can be plugged in if needed and there is a refrigerator for cold stuff.

  5. Will there be fun things for kids to do?
We have our best minds putting together a play area for kids which will be staffed with volunteers. There will be Reformation-themed games and crafts.

  6. Will there be fun things for adults to do?
A bunch of food and a bunch of friends. What else do you need?

  7. Are there restrooms available?
Definitely. The Woman’s Club has restrooms. However, due to setup for an event after us, we will need to access the restrooms through the front of the building.

See you Sunday!

Why Do We Celebrate Reformation Sunday?

Our annual celebration of the Protestant Reformation is this Sunday. We can’t wait to enjoy it with you.

“Why do we do it?” is a question we get asked regularly. For some, the answer may seem obvious. But for others, it may not.

Here are a handful of reasons why we celebrate the Reformation as a local church:

  1. The Reformers were interested in recovering the biblical gospel. They weren’t seeking to invent something new, but to get the church back to the core tenets of our faith. We believe this was absolutely necessary.

  2. When we celebrate Reformation Sunday, we are not celebrating the fracture between Roman Catholics and Protestants. We are focused on the necessary recovery of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone according to Scripture alone.

  3. Celebrating the Reformation reminds us that we stand in a long line of faithful brothers and sisters God has used to get the gospel to us. Hard decisions have been made. Persecution has been endured. God has used it all for our good.

  4. We are not the only ones who believe the Reformation was good and necessary. Many other churches around the globe do as well. When we celebrate, we are joining in with them.

  5. What we celebrate tells our neighbors what is most important to us. Reformation Sunday is a reminder of what is centrally important and tells our guests and neighbors what we cherish most: the gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you’d like to learn more about the Reformation, here’s a great place to start.

If you have more questions, we’d love to discuss further. Contact one of our pastors.

Brotherly Love

With Earnestness and Sincerity

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from 1 Peter 1:22-2:3. Those who are born again to a living hope are called to love with brotherly affection. Though we often feel like we need to be loved, our new life in Christ enables us to earnestly love our fellow elect exiles.
