Celebrate The Rebels Of The Reformation

A Month-Long Celebration

We have been profoundly shaped by the 16th-century Protestant Reformation. Brothers and sisters gave their lives to protect and preserve the gospel that we hold dear. The gospel that proclaims we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in the saving work of Jesus Christ alone.

It’s this recovery of the Biblical gospel we celebrate every year in October. And this year you can celebrate it for the entire month.

5 Weeks
5 Reformers
1 Great Savior

Come at 9:30am to Sunday School this week as we begin a 5-week series studying the lives of 5 Reformers who had crucial parts to play in the Reformation. Learn about them. Thank God for them. Imitate their faith.

“[Christian Biographies] tell the life story of some Christian in a way that inspires others to love Christ and gives them insight into perplexing aspects of the Christian life and motivates them to follow Jesus no matter what the cost.”
-John Piper

The Gospel In The Hurricane

On Sunday, the pastoral team shared an update from a church plant in our denomination whose city was decimated by Hurricane Florence. Their launch service was supposed to be this past Sunday but they have pushed it back to spend time caring for their neighbors and helping rebuild.

You can get more details and a prayer list here. Our church has sent money to their relief fund to aid their outreach efforts. But if you would like to offer support personally, you can do so on their website.

May God bless Grace City Church and the residents of Wilmington, NC.

When the Bible Speaks, God Speaks

On Sunday, Pastor Dustin preached from 2 Timothy 3:16-4:4 reminding us why we prioritize the preaching of the Bible. It ensures we have genuine encounters with God. It protects us from our own unhealthy passions. It prepares us for our future and final encounter with God. The simple truth is that we prioritize the preaching of God’s Word because we need it.

Help Us Serve Children And Their Families

In partnership with Olive Crest, Sovereign Grace Church is sponsoring a visitation room for children in their foster care program. The room is designed to be an anxiety free environment for the children to visit with family and to meet with mental health counselors.

We Need 4 Volunteers To Set The Room Up

Two for this Saturday (9/22) to help with painting.
Two for next Saturday (9/29) to help move furniture.

Contact Dylan right away if you would like to serve.

Thank you for being a blessing to those in need among us. It brings God glory.

Picnic In The Plaza

This Sunday is one of our regularly scheduled plaza invasions. If you’re planning to eat lunch then you are invited. Following our worship service, we will head to Plaza Park for lunch.

Plan to either bring your lunch with you to church, purchase take out at any of the restaurants in Old Towne Orange, or take advantage of our world famous Buck-O-Slice Pizza. If you're our guest, pizza is on us.

We'll have blankets to sit on but please feel free to bring folding chairs.

Tell your friends this is the most delicious Sunday to visit Sovereign Grace.

What Happens After Romans?

The Letter Is Done. What Now?

We finished our sermons in Romans this past Sunday. But we know you want more. Come to Sunday School this week to hear our answer to the question: What happened after Paul’s letter?

Did Paul ever make it to Rome? He said he wanted to (Rom. 1:11).
Did the divisions between Jews and Gentiles ever get mended?
Weren’t Christians fed to lions in the Coliseum?
What happened to the church during and after the great fire?

Join us in the Woman’s Club Garden this Sunday morning at 9:30am as we tackle these questions.
