Members Meeting Sunday June 10th

Be The Best Sovereign Grace Church You Can Be

Next Sunday, June 10th is our bi-annual members meeting. Head out to the garden immediately after the service. Bring lunch or bring cash for Buck-O-Slice pizza.

The pastors will be providing a ton of exciting updates: finances, Santa Ana church plant moving to Sundays, internships, and more. You eat while they talk.

Members we need you there. Regular attenders are welcome to come listen in on what's happening at Sovereign Grace Church.

Ladies' Summer Schedule

The women of our church have scheduled a ton of fun activities for the summer. Some with kids. Some without.

Beach Days
Mini Golf
Park Days
Movie Night

Flourishing Friendships

Time together is the key to meaningful friendships. Each of these events is an opportunity to strengthen the bonds you have with other women in the church. Take advantage this summer.

The calendar is full and the best way to stay up to date is on our Playgroup's Facebook page. Dates, times, and locations are all there.

A beach day at Corona Del Mar is our first event and it's happening this coming Tuesday June 5th. We'll see you there.

Loving Our Neighbors

 God Loves Those In Need

This week members from our church served a meal to the families living at House of Hope. God is using the staff, volunteers, and donors to provide these women and children the stability and support they need. It's a privilege to get to know them and encourage them.

Each time we're there, we ask for anonymous prayer requests. Just like us, these precious people have needs and requests only God can satisfy. We join them in asking God to work.

The requests are listed below. We encourage you to pray with us.

  • That we get an apartment. Thank you. God bless.
  • Please pray for my daughter that she may remain healthy & grow to her fullest potential. Thank you!
  • Please pray for my health. I am currently battling ovarian & thyroid cancer. Treatments not working. Uncertainty kicking in and stressful which isn't helping. Thank you.
  • I'm thankful for all you do for us. I'm thankful that God saved me! Would love prayer for healing, for my health, for our peace. To continue to guide us in the right direction.
  • Please pray for my two sons: my 7 month old for his health and my son in the Marines. Pray that God guides his path. In 2 months he will be moved to another location or deployed to war. Pray that I might pass the Cbest test to be a substitute teacher and God might open doors for a job offer. Thank you.
  • I would like prayer for God to open doors, but more to hear His voice and to stay obedient. I don't want to envy people of the world. I want to be joyful. I don't want to be unhappy or empty. But my joy has left me. I need help & God knows why. Thank you for your prayers. God be with you all for your servant's heart.

First Friday Fast - June

Join us in fasting on the first Friday of every month in 2018. Church members who fast for all 12 Fridays will be invited to a year-end party to celebrate the answers to our prayers.

If fasting is new to you, here are some instructions.

STUDENTS AND YOUTH

Our prayer focus for June is the students and youth of our community.

  • Pray for those in our church graduating from high school and transitioning into college. That God would remain steadfast though their lives are changing in big ways.
  • Pray that our faith would be passed down to the elementary and high school students in our church.
  • Pray that God would use our church to minister the gospel to students from surrounding universities and colleges: Chapman, Santiago Community College, CSUF, UCI.
  • Pray that God would bless the students and teachers in the elementary schools and high schools in Orange.
  • Pray that God would use members of our community to care for the approximately 28,000 homeless youth in our county.
Zac's Testimony

Everything we have belongs to God. We want to be people who live like our lives are not our own. How we spend our money is a huge part of it. It's why we have a Money Management Course.

Zac is one of our most recent graduates from the course. On Sunday we heard how God used it to help him grow in stewarding his finances. Here is what he shared:

Les and Sue Card do an excellent job hosting the class. Each week they opened up their home for us to meet, and each week they were reading and filling out the homework along with us as if they were doing it for the first time. I really appreciated their openness to describe the financial lessons they have learned over the years and to share their ongoing pursuit to honor God financially.

Early on in the class we all began monitoring our spending, and I was struck by the goodness of the Lord’s provision on a regular basis. Seemingly mundane things like paying rent or buying groceries became opportunities to praise God for taking care of my needs. It has also been a helpful tool for me to check my heart and ask if my desires align with the Lord’s.

I became reinvigorated to seek new ways to give and to experience the joy of giving. It is truly an expression of worship to the Lord to give generously and though I feel like there is still lots of room for me to grow, I have felt that joy in new ways as I have made incremental changes in my giving.

The class also offers hope rooted in the gospel for those who are in unstable financial situations. In poverty and in riches the Lord is with us and the Biblical principles taught in the class are always applicable. I highly recommend the Money Management class to you. Our money can be a spiritual tool that we use for His glory.

If you're interested in joining a future class, let us know.

Don't Miss This - June

EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE

Sovereign Grace Church has a rich and full community life. We want to make sure you don't miss out on the many ways God draws us together outside of Sunday mornings. Take a look at the list below for the month of June.

You can also stay up to speed by syncing with our master calendar.

Church Staff
The Second Most Important Thing About You

Know Who You Are

On Sunday Pastor Eric preached from Romans 12:3-8 reminding us that the gospel alters the way we think about ourselves. Self-importance and self-pity are banished by our union with Christ. We are not the center of the story, but neither are we worthless. We belong to Jesus and we belong to His body, the church. We do ordinary things with His extraordinary power for His glory.
