Children's Ministry

At Sovereign Grace we believe the ideal place for any man, woman, and child to worship is together. With that aim, our Children Ministry exists to provide particular and intentional care for parents and children during the second portion of our service.

Equipping Families to Worship Together

We welcome all children in the service and affirm the grace of God at work in their young lives. The way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to God, to the church, and to one another.

CRAWL

PLAY

LEARN

Each Sunday, during the second portion of our liturgy, we provide three optional groups for parents and their children. There is an intentional grey area between all three groups because we recognize children don't always fall into such rigid age-based categories. Some children may be able and willing to sit and listen to a teacher. Some children may be unable, uninterested, or simply prefer to play. Both are good! We want to offer and encourage multiple options. When you arrive, we want you and your children to have a choice, and not necessarily be confined to an age-based group, but rather a competency-based group.

Life's Most Dangerous Question

What do you do?

Pastor Eric continued our sermon series through Ecclesiastes this week, pointing us to the hope we have that all our work is not in vain. "The meek shall inherit the earth." We can have it both ways. Work is the worst. Work is the best. For us who believe, everything we do now we do in response to the work Christ has done for us.

Listen to Ecclesiastes 2:18-26.

Celebrating the Birth of Christ in Song

Nothing ushers in the holiday season quite like Christmas music. We love all of it - from traditional carols to new songs - all telling the wonder and mystery of God coming to dwell with us.

This Sunday we will sing a new(ish) song from Sovereign Grace Music, Prepare Him Room. Listen above and follow along with the lyrics below.

You can listen to SGM's entire Christmas album here (we do sing a few other songs off this album): https://sovereigngracemusic.bandcamp.com/album/prepare-him-room-celebrating-the-birth-of-jesus-in-song.

PREPARE HIM ROOM

VERSE 1
O behold, the mystery now unfolds
See the star shine on the virgin foretold
Angels sing and light up the sky
Hope rings out in a newborn’s cry
Swing wide, you ancient gates
For Christ is born today!

CHORUS
Prepare Him room
Prepare Him room
Let the King of glory enter in

VERSE 2
God with us, the promise has come to be
This, the one the prophets were longing to see
In the darkness a blazing light
To the hungry the words of life
His kingdom now is near
For those with ears to hear

VERSE 3
Oh, our hearts, as busy as Bethlehem
Hear Him knock, don’t say there’s no room in the inn
Through the cradle, cross, and grave
See the love of God displayed
Now He’s risen and He reigns
Praise the Name above all names!

NEW SONG: All Glory Be to Christ

We are excited to teach you a new song this Sunday! You'll recognize the tune as Auld Lang Syne which is probably the only song any of us associate with New Year's.

Have a listen and come ready to sing with us on Sunday.

All Glory Be to Christ!

LYRICS

Verse 1
Should nothing of our efforts stand
No legacy survive
Unless the Lord does raise the house
In vain its builders strive
To you who boast tomorrow’s gain
Tell me what is your life
A mist that vanishes at dawn
All glory be to Christ!

Chorus
All glory be to Christ our King!
All glory be to Christ!
His rule and reign we'll ever sing
All glory be to Christ!

Verse 2
His will be done
His kingdom come
On earth as is above
Who is Himself our daily bread
Praise Him the Lord of love
Let living water satisfy
The thirsty without price
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet
All glory be to Christ!

Verse 3
When on the day the great I Am
The faithful and the true
The Lamb who was for sinners slain
Is making all things new
Behold our God shall live with us
And be our steadfast light
And we shall ere his people be
All glory be to Christ!

Pushing Reset On Our Children's Ministry
20161113_125313.jpg

January 8th

The time is right for us to hit reset on our Children's Ministry and prepare for the future. There are more kids than ever and our convictions have grown stronger. We want to equip families to worship together.

Keep an eye out for all the new team leaders, new equipment, new media, security, and class structures. Change is coming and we are committed to our "no family left behind" policy. Here are a few highlights:

  1. All classes will be located in the garden. We'll have structures to protect from the weather and barriers to provide security.
  2. We will provide three classes based on competency rather than age. Crawl, Play, and Learn. The ministry workers will help parents determine which class would serve each child best.
  3. Children will still be welcome to stay in the worship service and opt out of Children's Ministry. Remember our goal is to equip families to worship together. We know not every child is ready. Our church will be a safe place to grow and mature.
