Do-It-Again Faithfulness
Women’s Seminar Testimony
On Saturday, April 13th, we hosted our annual women’s seminar. Ladies from our church gathered to hear teaching from God’s word given by our women’s ministry director, Kirsi. They had time to discuss in small groups and enjoy unhurried moments of fellowship.
This past Sunday, we asked Bree Jonas to share some of the ways God met her as she attended the seminar. See what she shared below:
Good morning, church. Thank you to Kirsi who led the women’s seminar, Les and Sue Card who hosted, and the many other women who served to make this seminar happen. I was looking forward to attending it for two reasons. First, I was excited and overjoyed to be able to fellowship with the amazing women in our church. Second, I simply was eager to hear a word from the Lord that morning.
The theme of the seminar was "Faithfulness," focusing on what Kirsi described as "do-it-again faithfulness." This concept reminded us that, as imperfect Christians, we can continually strive for holiness without the burden of meeting specific "standards."
During the seminar, we discussed the familiar cycle of repentance, believing in God's word, and obedience. What encouraged me most was the reminder that we can essentially repeat this cycle over and over again while we’re on this earth.
This idea of do-it-again faithfulness reminded me of Lamentations 3:22-23, which reassures us that "His mercies are new every morning." And it's by God's grace alone that we can repeat this cycle, which allows us to grow in holiness and godliness.
We discussed several important elements that are helpful in practicing faithfulness. One essential factor is having the support of the church. Another was the importance of combating discouraging thoughts such as, "I've failed too many times, why bother?" One more, which personally is one of my top struggles, is the need to walk by faith and not by sight, reminding us how vital it is to trust in God’s guidance even when the path isn’t clear.
I was personally impacted by this seminar because during this season of my life I have struggled at times with trusting God and his will for my family and I, but being reminded that God is gracious enough to allow me to repent of sin, be renewed by believing in his word, and then obeying him, gave me a new sense of hope. I was also so encouraged by hearing the testimonies of the other women’s journeys of practicing faithfulness during our group discussions. God gives us so many opportunities to practice faithfulness. Although the daily work may seem tiresome or even defeating at times, I was reminded of the Lord’s goodness in giving us the opportunity to practice it again, and again, and again.
Thank you, church.
Amen! May God enable all the women of Sovereign Grace Church to persevere in do-it-again faithfulness.
