Church Reopening Developments
A few weeks ago, we shared brief thoughts about a reopening plan. Our pastors explained that they are holding off on making a plan until we have clear guidelines about group size, sanitation, and social distancing requirements. It appears we will be provided with this guidance early next week.
Today, President Trump designated houses of worship as “essential” and called upon all governors to allow churches to reopen. Governor Newsom responded by indicating that guidance for churches will be available on Monday.
Once these guidelines are published, the pastors will begin formulating a reopening plan for our church. They will share it with you as soon as possible. It will likely include a phased reopening which starts with us meeting in smaller groups.
The commitments from your pastors remain the same:
Until we can meet again in-person, shepherd the flock of God that is among us utilizing technology for pastoral care, scripture teaching, prayer, and fellowship.
Lead and encourage the church to be a light to the world through our unity, patience, and peacefulness.
Prioritize the health and safety of our church members and neighbors.
Resume in-person meetings with proper precautions as soon as it’s deemed safe.
Honor and obey governing officials as long as their restrictions and guidelines appear to be for the good of our community and are applied equally to religious and nonreligious gatherings.
Remain in close contact with city and county officials for guidance about reopening.
We know you may have questions. The pastors are available and eager to speak with you. Don’t hesitate to contact them.
