Orange celebrates 125 years!

The City of Orange, will be turning 125 years old on April 6, 2013!

On April 6, we will be closing the Old Towne Plaza, to vehicle traffic.

At 12 p.m. the party will start with live music, a children’s activity area, carnival games, and face painting.  Our local non-profits will be selling food and the Orange Fire Department will be firing up the BBQ (no pun intended), and providing hot dogs and chips for only $1.  At 1 p.m. our Old Towne Churches will ring their bells as the City Council leads a marching band down Glassell St.  We will recognize the “Oldest” of Orange, including oldest business, resident, service organization, and more.  The grand finale, of course, will be the ceremonial “Cutting of the Birthday Cake” and birthday treats for the crowd (while they last,) and a community photo.   Residents are encouraged to wear orange clothing and say, “Cheese!”  The festivities in the Plaza will continue until 2:30 p.m. The Orange Public Library and History Center will present a program on the special history of Orange from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
